Leroy (Red) Smith

Funeral services for Mr. Leroy Smith, 59, were held on Friday, April 9, 2010, at 2:00p.m. at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett, TX. Interment followed the service at Concord Cemetery in Leon County.

Mr. Smith passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2010, in an automobile accident in Leon County.

He grew up in Dallas where he worked as a repo man for over twenty years for lenders in the Dallas area. Mr. Smith also worked as a stuntman in movies such as Leap of Faith, Lonesome Dove, Walker Texas Ranger, The Alamo, Geronimo & others. Red loved his grandkids and would do anything for anyone. He was a contract newspaper delivery man for the Houston Chronicle. Red also loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys and listen to Willie Nelson.

He is survived by two daughters, Renee Greer & husband Donald of Cedar Grove, TN and Stacy Smith & husband Charles Mason of Bedford; five grandchildren, Zachery Smith, Shawn Greer, Lily Greer, Matthew Smith and Brittany Smith; two brothers, Dennis Smith of Wilcox, AZ and Melvin Smith of Dallas; three sisters, Linda Smith of Irving, Beverly Hicks of Austin and Nancy Pectol of Provo, UT.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Lily Rummell; parents, Leroy & Josie Mae Smith; two brothers, Roy and Kenneth Smith; and two sisters, Rosalie Hardin and Betty Russell.
