Upcoming events at Cowboy Heritage Church are: Workers needed. April 16th - #10 and #13 Team Roping at 7:00 p.m. at the CHC arena. Books open at 6:00 p.m. Buckles to average winners in each roping. On Saturday, April 17th, the Shiloh Community Association will host our annual Spring Fling at the Shiloh Community Center.To get to the Shiloh Community Center take Highway 39 South of Mexia to the Shiloh Cemetery exit. Barbecue plates with all the trimmings and desert at seven dollars a plate will be served at 7 P.M.. Entertainment will be provided by Old Country and The Herzogs. Also during intermission there will be a cake auction and numerous door prizes. The Community Association would like to express a big Thank You to all the businesses who donated door prizes. All proceeds go towards the upkeep of the center and any needed repairs. For more information contact Donna at 562-3063.

AARP Meeting - Our next meeting will be Tuesday, April 20 at the Buffalo Civic Center. The program will be a musical presentation by Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Taylor. You will enjoy their talent. Bring your favorite food for a delicious lunch and come early (before noon) to visit with friends.

Veterans - take note! Leon County will host Veteran’s Appreciation Day on Saturday, May 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Veterans, active military and spouses no charge. Non-veterans’ meal is $10. Chow is served at noon at the Champion Ranch (4 miles south of Centerville on Hwy 1119.) Special guests will include the U.S. Cavalry. Learn more veterans’ benefits and health care. BOUND FOR AGGIELAND? Attention, Graduating Seniors: Local Aggies have been extra generous this year and the Leon County A&M Club is proud to be able to offer one $500 scholarship in EACH school district in our county. The funds will be applied to your 2010 fall tuition at Texas A&M. Prospective recipients must: (1) be current graduates; (2) reside in Leon County; (3) have been accepted for enrollment at Texas A&M’s College Station campus. Applicatoins are now available from your high school counselor, or by contacting Vanessa Goodwyn (903-388-9305). APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MAY 7.
