Hubert Winston (Bud) Ferguson

Funeral services for Mr. Winston Ferguson, 82, were held on Friday, April 2, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at the Sardis Baptist Church. Bro. Larry Harrelson officiated. Interment followed the service at Sardis Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites and the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard.

Visitation was held on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Ferguson passed away on Monday, March 29, 2010, at the Lake Shore Village Nursing Home in Waco.

Bud grew up in the Ephesus community and was a member of the Ephesus Baptist Church. He was baptized into Christ in 1942. He was a truck driver for many years; lived in Buffalo for several years and worked for Buffalo ISD in maintenance. He later worked for the Palestine Herald delivering papers to Oakwood, Buffalo and Jewett for several years. Mr. Ferguson loved to fish, work in the yard and just be outdoors; he also enjoyed dancing very much. He was a member of the Jewett Masonic Lodge #427.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Nelle Taylor of Jewett; a daughter, Judy Foley and her children, Joe Taylor and wife Adela and Patsy Caldwell and husband Kenny of Jewett; a son, Hubert Ferguson of California; a sister-in-law, Joy B. Ferguson of Palestine; four nieces, Linda Matthews and husband Danny Ray of Jewett, Edith Port of Jewett, Patricia D’Abadie of Buffalo, Karen Singleton of Bowling Green, KY, Diana Wayne and husband Billy of Henderson, KY. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae Ferguson; his brother, Bob Ferguson; his sister, Juanita Singleton; his nephew; Bill Singleton; and his parents, Oram and Florence Ferguson.
