Contributed photo In a modern day David and Goliath story, a young Leon County “David” is facing a New York “Goliath” in a race for a seat in New York’s 24th Congressional District’s House of Representatives.

Logan Bell was born in 1984, grew up in Leon County and graduated from Oakwood High School. He began working in his grandparents’ business, B-5 Construction, when he was thirteen years old and continued working there un- til he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2003.

Following his honorable discharge in 2007 Bell moved to New York to live closer to his daughter who resides in Cortland, New York. Shortly thereafter he enlisted in the New York National Guard where he currently serves as a sergeant in the 2nd Battalion, 108 Infantry attached to Ithaca’s Delta Company.

Bell is a member of the Constitution Party but says he is a true independent and is not seeking any party endorsement. He will be running against incumbent Democrat Michael Arcuri who took office in January 2007 and Republican Richard Hanna of Barneveld. Arcuri is an attorney and served as District Attorney in Oneida County for 13 years before taking his seat in Congress.

Bell will begin a six day walk on April 3rd, walking across the 24th Congressional District, from Binghamton to Utica, approximately 80 miles, where he will deliver a copy of the U.S. Constitution to Arcuri’s office.

Advocating the need to return to the Constitution and the values of the Founding Fathers is Bell’s primary platform.

Logan Bell is the son of Rhonda Bell of Buffalo and Ernie Bell of Magnolia, Texas. The candidates grandparents are Dorothy and the late Cecil Bell of Oakwood and Billy and Gene Cooper of the Flo Community.
