Spring brings warmer weather, wild flowers -- and the Leon County Youth Livestock Show. The annual event is a highlight of the season for many families throughout the county. This was the 51st year for the county show, and participation was high. Twohundred forty-five area 4-H and FFA students exhibited project animals or ag mechanics projects during the week.   More...

Go Texan Day on Monday morning introduced Buffalo Elementary Pre-K and Kindergarteners to their western heritage. The annual event is a spring highlight of the students’ year, and included horseback rides provided by the Champion family (Cattle Country Equipment), western-themed games and skills, face painting and National Champion’s trick roping.   More...
Funeral services for Doris Laverne Coldiron age 80, of Buffalo, Texas were held 2 p.m., Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Walters Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas. Rev. Larry Morris, pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church, officiated the services. Burial was in the Coldiron Family Cemetery in Flo, Texas.   More...
At the regular monthly meeting of American Legion Post #335 on Saturday April 3rd the annual election of officers was held.   The post has elected Bill Senkowsky of Centerville to serve as Commander for the next year. Bill has been a member of the Post for the past 2 years and served as the Post Service officer last year. Bill is an Air Force Veteran.   More...

Buffalo and Centerville met Thursday night during County Show week. Centerville had won the first outing 7-5, and held a half-game lead over the Lady Bison. Thursday's contest looked to be a repeat as Centerville took the early lead, but Buffalo came from behind in the seventh inning to secure a 6-5 victory. The two Leon County teams are tied at 7-2 with five district games remaining.  More...
Lots of fallow ground in North Texas this spring
COLLEGE STATION - - There likely will be a lot of fallow fields in the North and Central Texas regions this year, according to Texas AgriLife Extension Service reports. "We are very, very, very wet still at this time," said Rick Maxwell, AgriLife Extension agent in Collin County, northeast of Dallas. "Because of this wet weather we've got very little of our corn in." More...
