John Calvin Laningham, Jr.
John Calvin Laningham, Jr. was born in Buffalo, Texas on December 17, 1945 to John C. and Mae (Brown) Laningham. He retired about a year ago from construction work. He was a safety consultant about thirty years and a DPS Officer for thirteen years. John was a good person; he would give the shirt off his back. He had many co-workers and friends. He was an athelete, and a history buff. He enjoyed gardening… both flowers and vegetables. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Elmo Dean Laningham. John passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010 in Tyler, Texas. Survivors include his brother, Melvin Laningham, Sr. of Buffalo, Texas; his two sisters, Carolyn Slaughter and Shirley Helm, both of Buffalo, Texas; nieces, Johnette Clark, and Janie Gafford of Jewett, Texas, and Dana Tullos of Centerville, Texas; nephews, Sonny Tayor, Melvin Laningham, Jr., Michael Laningham, Matthew Laningham, and Steven Helm, all of Buf- falo, Texas; numerous great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Cancer Association, 3207 Briarcrest Dr., Bryan, Texas 77802 or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, Va. 22116. The pallbearers were Sonny Taylor, Melvin Laningham, Jr., Michael Laningham, Matthew Laningham, Steven Helm, and Jodie Ivey. The honorary pallbearers were Chad Taylor and Jimmy Moore.
