Flo Water annual meeting outlines continued progress Fifty six people attended the Flo Community Water Supply Corporation annual meeting on Saturday, March 27 at the Buffalo Civic Center. A total of 199 proxies were returned constituting more than the ten percent needed to establish a quorum for the meeting. Davis Albert and Jack Williams were elected to the Flo Water Board of Directors. They were the only two on the ballot. Doris Pittman received 61 votes as a write-in candidate and several others received single votes. In the reconstitution of the board, Vice President Richard Moran announced that he would not be standing for re-election as V.P. and nominated director Wallace Jones for Vice President. Director Joe Graves was nominated to fill the Secretary- Treasurer position. President Robert Boettcher was reelected for another term as president. The assembled members gave an ovation of thanks to outgoing directors Ken Jones and Richard Blanchard. Jones told the group that in his opinion, credit is owed to past President Gary Bell for all he had done for Flo Water. General Manager Jim Martin gave the members a report that showed the progress that Flo Water had made after a new board was elected three years ago as they progressed from having less than $500 in the bank and many outstanding debts and required membership and reserve funds depleted to the current business like state of affairs. Martin announced that after receiving a one million dollar line of credit from Community Bank that the remaining debt with Palestine Water Well which included a lien against the corporation had been paid off as well as the lease purchase agreement on the Water Equipment Treatment Specialists system. The fact that no water restrictions were imposed in the last year was proudly announced. The new well drilled in the Weedon Addition by Womble Drilling has found more water than was hoped for, and it is below the state allowable for iron content, and it is hoped that the current levels will be further reduced before the well is put into production. The now paid for WETS system can also be used to remove iron from the water. The rate increase due to go into effect starting with the water bills in June was discussed and it was pointed out that this modest increase was the first in four years and was below the existing rate of inflation. Waterworks Supply Company of Belton provided a catfish meal to the members as they did last year. Several members brought cakes to share with everyone and the lunch was enjoyed by the members. |
