Geraldine “Jerri” Boatman Hendrix
Geraldine, known by most as Jerri, was born on July 1, 1944 in Jacksonville, Texas to Avis Leon and Billie Louise (Terry) Boatman. She moved to Arcadia as a young girl and later graduated from Santa Fe High School, Class of 1962. She moved to Houston after graduating and was hired by Dresser Industries where she met and married Rex Hendrix. She worked thirty years for Dresser and was proud of career. Rex and Jerri moved to Leona in 1998. She joined the Leona Baptist Church. She loved to garden, quilt, play bridge and spend time with friends. She played bridge with the same “bridge ladies” for forty years. She quilted with several quilting groups including the Wacky Pack of Fairfield. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a leader and will be missed by many. Jerri passed away March 14, 2010 at her home. She is preceded in death by both parents. Survivors include her husband Rex of Leona; son and daughter-in-law Doug and Bridget Hendrix of Richmond; two granddaughters Emily and Katie Hendrix; a brother Ancil Boatman of Lake Cherokee near Henderson and two sisters, Sybil Miller of Santa Fe, Texas and Charlotte Fronhoefer of Fairhope, Alabama.
