Lady Bison selected to All-District teams

Van’Go’photo The Lady Bison basketball team was well respected by district coaches when they selected members of the 2010 All District Team. Buffalo, which tied for second place in District 21AA, scored a superlative honor as well as two other members to the first team. The Lady Bison also garnered three slots for the second team and several honorable mentions.

Freshman guard Kylan Ferguson was chosen by opposing coaches as the Newcomer of the Year for the Lady Bison. The young Ferguson started all 29 contests for the Lady Bison and topped several of her team’s statistical categories. Kylan scored 262 points for the year and pulled down 102 rebounds. She led the Lady Bison in assists with 62 and was second in steals with 66. She shot 27.1% from beyond the three-point-line to lead the Lady Bison in three’s.

&lt;< Consistency earned Karlee Ferguson First Team All District honors. The sophomore hit 40.9% of her field goal attempts and 64.9% at the free throw line. Van’Go’photo Joining the freshman Ferguson on the first team were sophomores Karlee Ferguson and Kelsey Canady. Karlee Ferguson led the team in field goal percentage and free throw percentage with 40.9 % and 64.9%, respectively. Karlee scored 146 points during the season and pulled down 119 rebounds.

Canady scored 211 points and pulled down 133 rebounds. She was second in assists with 45 and third in steals with 52.

A third sophomore and two seniors earned berths on the Sec- ond Team for district 21AA. Sophomore guard Latisha Jackson, who led the team in scoring with 275 points and steals with 76, was a second team selection. Seniors Kaila Grissett and Meredith Shaw were also named to the second team. Grissett scored 129 points for the year and nabbed 126 rebounds. Shaw led the team in rebounds with 171 and was second in free throw percentage for the year.

Van’Go’photo Four Lady Bison received votes and made the Honorable Mention list. Senior Erica Jones, junior Lauren Chambers and sophomores Lindsey McGill and Reagan Read all received recognition from district coaches.

The Lady Bison were well represented on the Academic All District team as well. Grissett and Shaw, Karlee Ferguson, McGill, Read and Kylan Ferguson all met the criteria for the All Academic Team.
