Lady Bison, Bison tracksters compete at Bremond

The Lady Bison track team competed in the Bremond track meet last Thursday and finished fourth overall in the team standings. Coach Daryl Skelton’s crew worked on improving times and distances in the individual and team events.
In the field events, the Lady Bison picked up 14 points in a highly competitive field. Jalisa Corbin placed second in the shot put event while jumpers picked up fifth and sixth place points. Kelsey Canady and Brooke Trahan finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the triple jump. Desiree Worthy and Kylan Ferguson were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the long jump.
The 400 meter relay team completed the lap in third place. Trahan, Worthy, Canady and Kaila Grissett comprised the quartet.
Ferguson earned gold with a first place finish in the 800 meter run, improving her time by six seconds. The freshman distance runner shaved eight points off her 1600 meter run and finished fourth in the event.

Tionna Adams joined Canady, Worthy and Grissett on the 800 meter relay team. This foursome placed second.
Trahan competed in the 100 meter hurdles and finished sixth.
Worthy won the 200 meter dash and Trahan came in fourth.
Buffalo will compete in the Leon Track Meet on Thursday.
Bison men
The Bison men also competed at Bremond. In the Varsity division, Micah Burnside Jones was the only BHS man to place, and he finished 4th in the triple jump.
In Junior Varsity action, BHS finished fifth out of ten teams competing.
D.J. Jackson was the top Bison finisher with a win in the High Jump. Jackson also placed 3rd in the 110M Hurdles. Other Bison to place in individual events included: Austin Rayborn (6th in the 800M Run) and Jesse Perez Champion (2nd in the 400M Dash).
BHS’ 800M Relay (Jonathan Cates, Marcus Mata, D.J. Jackson, and Gabriel Aguilar) finished 4th, as did the 1600M Relay (Perez, Rayborn, Mata and Jackson).
