Bison go 1-2 in tournament play at Leon

The young Bison baseball team showed good promise when they competed at the Leon Tournament last weekend. BHS came away with a win and two losses.
Game One pitted the Bison against Marlin, and Ty Tollett pitched a 5-inning no hitter. The freshman threw ten strikeouts and two walks, and BHS came out on top 12-1.
In Game Two they lost a squeeker to Teague, 6-8. The host Leon Cougars defeated BHS 7-1, eliminating the Bison.
Pitching stats for the Bison over the course of the tournament. Tollet pitched 5 innings with no hits, 10 K’s and 2 BB. Logan Beard pitched 2 innings, threw 1K, and gave up 4 hits, 3 walks and 4 runs. Travis King pitched 6 innings, threw 1 K, and gave up 9 hits, 2 walks, and 8 runs. Taylor McGill pitched one inning, threw 1 strikeout, and gave up 1 hit and no runs. Ryan Read pitched a single inning, threw 1 strikeout, and gave up 1 hit and two unearned runs. Aaron Bell pitched one inning, threw one strukeout, gave up 1 walk and 1 earned run.
Harley Eakin led the Bison hitting. He was 6 for 11 with 4 RBIs. Read was 2 for 5 with a double, a triple and one RBI. Tate Hartley and Aaron Bell each went 2 for 5. Jake Rodell was 3 for 6 with a triple and Tollett was 3 for 6.
This week the Bison are scheduled to host the Centerville Tigers in a district game on March 9 at 4:30.
