After a rain-out on Monday, the young Bison baseball team hosted New Waverly in the district opener at Bison Field on Thursday afternoon. With basketball season over, Buffalo had picked up several players but the senior-loaded Bulldogs still managed to dominate the game, capitalizing on home runs early in the game.
Three Bison split the pitching duties. Freshman Ty Tollett pitched the first two innings and threw two strikeouts, gave up 4 runs and a base on balls. Ryan Read came in to pitch two innings, and he threw two strikeouts and gave up 5 runs and one walk. Travis King pitched Inning #5 and logged one strikeout while giving up 1 walk and 4 runs.
Offensively, Read was 1 for 2 with a walk, and Logan Beard was 1 for 1 with a walk. Harley Eakin was credited with an RBI on a walk. Jose Dominguez scored the Bison's lone run. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth, he came across the plate as a result of a base-onballs, but the Bison left three men stranded.
The Bulldogs won the contest 13-1, in a game abbreviated by the 10-Run Rule.
