Funeral services for Shirley Ann McRae, age 67, of Centerville, held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. Interment followed in the Frost Cemetery in Frost, Texas. Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas was in charge of all arrangements.
Shirley Ann McRae was born on April 21, 1942 in Drane, Texas to Clarence Warren & Ruby Alice (Minze) Abbot. She had lived in Leon County since 2003, coming from Limestone County and before that, Frost, Texas. Shirley loved to cook and especially enjoyed her time spent bass fishing. Her favorite thing was watching her grandchildren grow. In earlier years, Shirley was a seamstress and loved to sew. When she was able, she spent a lot of time outside gardening and canning with her daughter, Tammy. Shirley’s favorite pastime was listening to country and honky-tonk music and having a “cold one” every now-and-then. She passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2010. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin McRae; sister, Nell White; son, Jonathan McRae and grandson, Christopher McRae.
Survivors include daugh- ters, Tammy Millican of Centerville, Texas and Tesa Wilson of Brownsboro, Texas; brother, George Abbot of Deport, Texas; sister, Hazel Lamance of Texas City, Texas; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Paul Monthei, Jerry Moon, Trevor Millican, Brodie Monthei, Morgan McRae and Chase Wilkins.
Honorary pallbearers were Deidre McRae, Derrick Wilson and Shawna McRae.
