Leon County Gun Club’s 26th semi annual Buffalo Gun Show was attended by over 1200 customers this week. The traffic in the show was heavy all day Saturday and steady on Sunday despite a gray and drizzly day. Exhibitors reported good sales and liked the friendly crowd at the 100-table Buffalo Gun Show. I am a member of the team now distributing the 2010 census questionnaires and I believe that most people don’t realize that the questionnaires are hand delivered. Some time ago there was a concerted effort to map out the entire county and assign house numbers so that emergency personnel could easily find people. Many have not gotten signs to show what number was assigned. More ... Buffalo High School students volunteer to stock the Lord's Pantry when a shipment of food arrives. Jared and Jacob are veterans at unloading while Harley and Charlie are newly appointed. The students are supplied primarily from the Ag department and are a huge labor asset for the voluteers who regularly man the pantry. More ... The Lone Star Community Center held its regular meeting on Monday, March 1 in the Center’s dining room. The main topic of conversation was the upcoming Flo School Reunion scheduled for April 24. More ... The Region 9 THSRA high school rodeo athletes are winding down their season. Rodeo #11 was held at the Corsiciana Expo Center on Sunday, March 7, and that leaves only the Finals Rodeo and awards ceremony coming up on March 20th at Crockett’s Porth Arena. More ... Leon County 4-H hosted its 3rd Annual Fashion Lock In on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Centerville. The 4-H Fashion Lock In provides a night of learning and fun for those 4-H members in the clothing and textiles project. More ... A program focused on Child Internet Safety, Cell Phones, and Social Networking will be presented by Texas AgriLife Extension Service Leon County on Monday, March 22, 2010, at the Centerville High School Auditorium beginning at 6 PM.
