Van’Go’photo Dave Baldwin of Athens, Texas hopes for a ringer, while Ed Harris of Daingerfield and Pete Wheeler of Lubbock wait their turn in play at the Tri-County Horseshoe Club. Van’Go’photo Over a hundred and twenty pitchers and their families converged on Buffalo for last weekend's Willie Rutledge Classic, a sanctioned THPA (Texas Horseshoe Pitching Association) tournament hosted by the Tri-County Horseshoe Club. The local club's facility, with 32 pits, is the largest in Texas and one of the sport’s premiere facilities in the country. Tri-County hosts several 3-day and 4-day events annually, bringing a good number of families to town. Next up is the Paul Kennedy Classic on May 15th and Montgomery County will host a tournament here on June 19th. There will be a big tournament on September 18th in conjunction with the Buffalo Stampede, and this year’s State Tournament will be held here October 8-10. Mark your calendars.
