The Texas Agrilife Extension Service and Davis Country Store provided a free seminar on March 6, 2010 beginning at 11:00am at the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Buffalo, Texas. The time is now! Natural and organic principles and techniques are going main stream. The speaker opened Tropical John’s Garden Shop in 1988 with all synthetic chemicals that he was familiar with. By 1990, with the help of Howard Garrett, he converted his nursery to 100% organic. As with anything, education is key. On Saturday Tropical John explained the purpose of Organic Gardening and provided a system approach to converting participant’s gardens to organics. Texas is blessed with an incredible selection of native, well adapted trees, shrubs and perennials. Participants learned the best way to incorporate these into their landscape.
