Freestone County Sheriff’s Report

by Sheriff Ralph Billings
Lady calls from IH-45…Out of gas…But since she says she “has no idea” where she is at…Somewhere between Dallas and Galveston….She’s a little out of luck, too. But eventually she was located and Triple A took her the gas.

Ralph Billings Ralph Billings Lady calls from Teague, wants a certain female arrested….. Sorry, Ma’am, you’re too late….She’s already been arrested.

TPD Reed and Howard, plus Deputy Robertson to shattered Domestic Bliss on N. 3rd. one arrested Assault Family Violence plus Limestone County Warrants.

Call comes in to check welfare of folks on FCR- 930….Deputy Robert Elom to same….Robert advised everything at that residence looked wonderful….They were sittin’ at the table…. Eatin’ Dumplin’s!

Panic Alarm alert in Teague, when man contacted… Yep, it sure happened… He sat on it!

Little donkey loose, Mile 200, picked up, impounded, lookin’ for a home. Was told that Deputy Aultman deeply involved in this operation and certainly bonded well with the four footed protagonist. Especially with the tie-down strap that was finally attached to the donkey. Was told it was a lop-sided tug of war, the donkey wanting to go one way, John Aultman the other. Our own local version of Robert Redford….Instead of The Horse Whisperer….It was the Donkey Whisperer with Aultman whispering reassuring words into those two big old ears. A shame Norman Rockwell wasn’t present to create an illustrated picture.

Tragedy with suicide by self-inflicted gunshot, FCR- 1092, JP Shirley Mays, Deputies Barrentine, Robertson, Elom and House to same.

Mister Bud Whatley, longtime friend, has passed away after a long and good life. Health had been a problem the last few years. Another one of our World War II vets. Their numbers shrink daily. Bud had a wry sense of humor and quick wit. He was the type that when he spoke, others listened. I can picture him now, a shock of white hair, cowboy boots, a Silver Belly hat, black framed glasses, always a gentleman. This is the way I will remember him. Our Condolences to the family.

Runaway 14 year old Juvenile girl reported 1 AM on Saturday. Second time she had pulled this stunt in two weeks. Turns out that she slipped off with her new male friend that she met on the InterNet who resides in Colorado…..Also it turned out that this young computer whiz is a Registered Sex Offender, out of both Colorado and Nevada, but that information was not immediately known. Information started coming in after daylight, a bit here, a fragment there. I won’t go into detail, but we traced her and her Goodtime Joe Computer Buddy to Kansas City, Kansas, Wichita, Ks., then to McPherson County, Kansas. GoodTime Joe’s family members lied in Colorado about his location, said he was at work. Nope, he was burning up the roads crossing multiple State Lines with a Juvenile Female. More snooping revealed a Motel Reservation for the following night in Oklahoma City…. Now if you know a little geography, you know that I’ve just listed a very circular path in the Midwest, that really don’t make sense, but that is the way it was. I won’t reveal how we were able to compile and gather the information, but it all worked out. The Kansas State Highway Patrol were able to get the vehicle stopped, and I understand he did attempt to flee, but now he is in Jail. And the 14 Year Old? Carried to a Detention Facility until her relatives can arrive. Good work by all involved…. Kansas State Highway Patrol, Adams County, Colorado S.O., Deputies Shipley, Hendrix, Barrentine, Howerton and Dispatcher Noll, FBI John Truehitt, and a list of others whom I can not reveal. Our charge will be Unlawful Restraint for the State, believe there will be another on the Federal side.

Until Next Week….. RALPH BILLINGS
