Progress began last week on improving the water supply situation in the Weedon Addition as Womble Drilling Co. began work to plug a well at the Flo Water site. The well had never produced usable water. After plugging the existing well Womble will drill a new well at the site, going to a different depth. Womble has had excellent results with wells in the immediate area at that depth.  More...

The City Council held their March meeting at the Senior Center on Monday evening. After an executive session late in the meeting, they voted to accept a letter of resignation of Lt. Craig Jefferson from the Buffalo Police Department. Councilmember Dianne Ryder abstained from the voting.   More...

Leon County Gun Club’s 26th semi annual Buffalo Gun Show was attended by over 1200 customers this week. The traffic in the show was heavy all day Saturday and steady on Sunday despite a gray and drizzly day. Exhibitors reported good sales and liked the friendly crowd at the 100-table Buffalo Gun Show.   More...
Funeral services for Bernice L. Keith, age 88, of the Evans Chapel Community were held at 2:30 PM, Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Flynn First Baptist Church. Bro. Ross Newton officiated the service and interment followed in the Evans Chapel Cemetery.   More...

For the first time in their 50-year history the Lady Cougars basketball team advanced to the state semi-fi- nals in Austin. Unfortunately the Cougars tangled with the defending 2A State Champion Brock Lady Eagles in the semis.   More...

The Texas Agrilife Extension Service and Davis Country Store provided a free seminar on March 6, 2010 beginning at 11:00am at the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Buffalo, Texas. The time is now! Natural and organic principles and techniques are going main stream. The speaker opened Tropical John’s Garden Shop in 1988 with all synthetic chemicals that he was familiar with.  More...
