Lady Bison claim victory in Teague The Lady Bison softball team fought the cold to defeat a scrappy Lion team in Teague last Monday night. Buffalo scored five runs in the top of the seventh, and then retired the first three batters to win 14-10. Competition is always strong when the Lady Bison match up with the Lady Lions, and the 2010 meeting was no exception. Both teams scored a single run in the first inning. Buffalo advanced a runner to third in the second, but left her stranded. Defense denied the Lady Lions a score either. Nikki Dorman, Rachel Morris and Heather Sigert all scored in the third to give Buffalo a 4-1 advantage. Teague answered with two third inning runs to close to within one. The Lady Bison scored one run in the fourth, but Teague scored two runs to tie the game at five. The fifth inning was rather eventful as Buffalo loaded the bases, but did not score a run. The Lady Lions heated up in the bottom of the fifth, scoring four runs to take their first lead at 9-5. Buffalo responded to the challenge, and loaded the bases once again. Clean up hitter, Rachel Morris hit a grand slam off the scoreboard to tie the game at nine. The Lady Lions managed to squeeze in a run in the bottom of the sixth to lead 10-9. Buffalo scored five runs in the seventh inning before they took the field to defend the victory. It was three up, three down for Teague as the Lady Bison won 14-10. Morris picked up the win for the Lady Bison. The junior right hander struck out eight and walked three in the effort. Morris also led the team in offense, going 2 of 3 from the plate and scoring four rbi’s. Dorman was three for five for the evening while Meredith Shaw was three for four. Sigert was two for four at the plate. Lindsey McGill, Jordyn Briscoe and Jennifer Pate each picked up a hit. |
