BI-DISTRICT Delayed by a day due to the winter storm, the Bison began their playoff run on Wednesday, February 24, facing the Newton Eagles. The Angelina College Gymnasium was awash in puple -- the color of both teams. Buffalo brought a good crowd of Bison supporters and they were NOT disappointed, as BHS pulled of a solid win to advance to the area round. More ... The Leon Lady Cougars swept three games in the playoffs and are one of four teams vying for the state championship in basketball. This is the first time the Cougars have reached the Final Four in basketball, although they have several state trophies in volleyball. More ... LADY BISON The BHS ladies competed in a track meet at Centerville on Thursday, February 25 with eight schools participating. Head Coach Daryl Skelton has the largest team BHS has fielded in many years, with 25 girls out for track, and they had good success in the first meet of the season. More ... The Lady Bison softball team fought the cold to defeat a scrappy Lion team in Teague last Monday night. Buffalo scored five runs in the top of the seventh, and then retired the first three batters to win 14-10. More ... The Bison baseball team has begun play, still missing several key players who will be joining the team now that basketball season is over. More ... In a round robin tournament at Leon High School last week, the Lady Bison came in third. Bryan’s junior varsity squad rolled through the competition undefeated. Buffalo wrapped up action with three wins, two losses and one tie. More ... The Bison powerlifting team finished their regular season Saturday at a meet at Navasota. Three lifters qualified for the Regional meet on March 13 by being in the Top Ten of their weight classes: Tate Hartley (132-pound class), Jose Dominguez (181-pound class) and Jared Hawthorne (198-pound class). Centerville and Normangee participated in the Groesbeck Tennis Tournament last Thursday February, 25.In Boys Doubles Daniel Kendall and Garret Ward where in possession of a Bye round during the opening matches. Their second match they won 8-1 against Groesbeck which put them in the Quarter Finals. More ... This past Friday 18 Buffalo high schoolers and one junior high student competed in the State Archery tournament in Waco, Texas. Buffalo placed 4th as a team and qualified to advance to Nationals. Shelby Stanton placed 6th in the High school female division, and Brooke Mills placed 9th. Dylan Ansley placed 7th in the High School male division. More ... The Centerville Tigers lost their last district game to Corrigan Camden 29-38 but defeated San Augustine 46-33 in bidistrict and Houston Yes South East by 12 points to advance to the regional quarter-finals to be played on March 1st in Tomball against Anuahuac.
