The legal entry of Texas into the Union was 29 December 1845, but the decade-old Republic of Texas did not formally transservice. fer its authority to the new State of Texas until 19 February 1846. DRT therefore celebrates 19 February 1846 as Statehood Day and as a Texas Honor Day.

Chapter members Jan Reeder, Jeffie Bell, Cindy Torno, Brenda Green, Mildred Baur and Ginger Honeycutt

celebrated Statehood Day last week at the Stagecoach Deli in Buffalo, where they were “welcomed” by saloon girl Horsetooth Alice (the establishment’s resident mannequin).
