Spring Sports -- Off ‘n Running

Ahh, Spring! To some folks, the heralds of Spring are the leaves of daffodil bulbs poking their heads from the ground. For the sports fan, it’s the sound of a bat hitting a ball, the thud of a discus slapping the ground, or the sight of runners sprinting around
the football field.
Area school kids are, indeed, gearing up for the spring sports: Softball, baseball, track, tennis, golf and powerlifting teams are practicing or already competing, even though the weathermen can’t quite ensure optimum weather conditions, yet.
Some basketball teams are still in the playoffs, meaning that some student athletes -- and coaches -- are still playing out their commitment to that sport (and no one is complaining about that!)
It’s a busy time of year, to be sure, and the Buffalo Press sports staff will do our best to keep you abreast of all that is happening. (And fans -- just keep your winter gear handy, as well as sunglasses and sun screen.)
