Ahh, Spring! To some folks, the heralds of Spring are the leaves of daffodil bulbs poking their heads from the ground. For the sports fan, it’s the sound of a bat hitting a ball, the thud of a discus slapping the ground, or the sight of runners sprinting around the football field. More ... Buffalo High School hosted Madisonville and Trinity in a three-school power lifting meet on Wednesday, February 17. Lifters participated in three events: Squat, Bench and Dead Lift. The BHS team finished second, with several lifters placing high in the competition. More ... The Buffalo Bison finished their regular season play by hosting the #1-ranked New Waverly Bulldogs on February 16. The game was a defensive battle early on and the Bison frustrated the Bulldogs with aggressive play at both ends of the court. Both teams were pressing and neither was able to put many points on the board. More ... With new and familiar faces, the Lady Bison softball took to the diamond last week to open the 2010 season. Buffalo picked up easy wins over Dawson and Gary as the team showed a glimpse of good things ahead. More ... The JV Bison men finished their season with a tough opponent, the New Waverly Bulldogs. Austin Rayborn sparked the Bison to a 10-7 lead after the first quarter. The Bulldogs found their stride in the second period and pulled ahead 21-13 by halftime. NWHS outscored the Bison in the second half to win the contest, 55-31. More ... The Oakwood Panthers didn't necessarily end the season on a high note. It was more like a sad one. Their final two games against Kennard and Douglass both ended in losses. More ... The Cougars defeated Arp 61-52 at Jacksonville on February 16th and Daingerfield 55-50 at Tyler on February 17 to advance to the regional quarter finals against White Oak in Whitehouse on February 23. The Cougars trailed by 1 as the first quarter ended but rallied to take the lead 32-27 at the half. The Cougars increased their lead to 9 as the fourth quarter began. More ...
