Earnest McLoy Gipson
Earnest McLoy Gipson, Sr. was born on December 19, 1947 to the parentage of Luther and Maggie Lee Gipson in Centerville, Texas. He was the youngest of seven children. He attended and graduated with honors from Douglas High School in Centerville, Texas. After graduation, he moved to Houston, Texas and remained a resident until 1968. In 1968, he moved to Fort Worth, Texas and worked as a construction worker. In 1975, he became an employee of the Winn Dixie Company in Fort Worth and worked as a frozen food order selector. He later relocated back to his hometown to serve as caregiver for his ill father.
Earnest accepted Christ at an early age, and was a longtime member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He served faithfully in several positions at the church and was always willing to do whatever he was asked to do, until his health failed.
Earnest's father, mother and four siblings waited with open arms to welcome him home to live in eternity on Tuesday February 16, 2010.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Monica Gipson of Ft. Worth; son Earnest Gipson, Jr. (Kim) of Arizona; sisters, Yvonne Gipson Hailey (Henry) and Mary Gipson Hailey (Eunice); special sister-in-law, Henrietta Gipson; long-time caretaker, Laura Phillips and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church and interment followed in the Hopewell Cemetery. Pastor Frederick Gipson of Christ Knows Ministry in Houston was the eulogist.
