The importance of True Friendchip

No – it is not a misprint. This story is about friendship, the powerful human/animal bond and how something the size of a grain of rice got two friends back together.

In January, a beautiful Belgian Malinois was brought to Buffalo Animal Hospital by the City dog catcher. As with all strays brought in, the staff immediately checked for a microchip, the small chip that is usually inserted between the shoulder blades. Today brought success because this dog was chipped.

A staff member made the correct phone calls and found out that the dog was registered to the Waco Humane Society and that they had called him “Max”. The Humane Society gave out the name of the people who had adopted Max, but neither the staff at BAH nor the city were able to locate them.

The staff made Max comfortable and quickly realized that he was no ordinary dog. He was well trained, good mannered and had an endearing personality. Finding Max a good home would not be a problem, but he needed to be returned to Waco, since they had micro-chipped him and they were his rightful owners.

Throughout the week the managers of BAH and the Humane Shelter kept in contact and the shelter decided to pick up Max on Saturday. Several staff members got to see the joy when Max was reunited with the young lady from the shelter who had trained him, loved him and been his friend. Buffalo Animal Hospital received a thank you note for caring for Max and seeing that he was returned safely to the shelter. They were also informed that Max went to live with a family that had lots of land and lots of children to play with. A very happy ending, helped along by something the size of a grain of rice.

Take care of your furry friends and see to it that they too will always make their way back home to you.
