City of Oakwood hires City Prosecutor A unanimous decision was made by the members of the Oakwood City Council to hire Charley Johnson as the new City Prosecutor. Since hiring a police force and adding a municipal court system, the City was made aware that, from time to time, it would be necessary for them to have a prosecutor to make sure the community's best interests were protected. Johnson's services would be on an "as needed" basis. As this is not a daily position, there was no need to waste tax payer money by making this a full time position. Johnson accepted the arrangement. When asked why he agreed to such a contract, he simply stated, "Well, they asked me." He went on to say, "It doesn't conflict with anything I do and I don't mind helping out the community. Although not board certified in any particular area, Johnson has been practicing law for 28 years, since May of 1982. He and his wife, Vicki, live in the Buffalo area with their three sons who attend Dew I.S.D. He also has two children in college. From old council business, a proposal was revisited that would allow for two of the council members go to the Community National Bank and Trust to tend to paperwork necessary to cash out CDs at that location. The motion was passed and it was agreed that any two of the members could be chosen at any given time to take care of this task. Mirenda Harris of Kerbow & Associates attended the meeting to inform the members of the new grant agreement. This agreement would include a 10% payment of $25,000. This grant was approved during a special meeting scheduled at a later date. |
