Joseph Walter McGinnis

Funeral services for Joseph Walter McGinnis, age 65, of Leona, were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. Bro. David McLean, pastor of the Mesquite Hill Baptist Church in Madisonville, Texas, officiated the service.

Joseph Walter McGinnis was born on April 3, 1944 in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania to Norman & Louise (Whitman) McGinnis. He served in the U.S. Navy and in the Naval Investigative Service following his time served in the Navy. Mr. McGinnis then began a long career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He began his career in Augusta, Georgia, transferred to Alexandria, Virginia and then on to the FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. He taught at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia and finished his career with the FBI in Houston, Texas.

After his retirement, Mr. McGinnis moved to Leona, Texas. He was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed his time in the country. Mr. McGinnis did some work as a substitute teacher for the Centerville High School and was a faithful and devoted member of the Mesquite Hill Baptist Church in Madisonville, Texas. He passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010 at his home.

Survivors include fiancée, Barbara Babcock of Leander, Texas; son, Shaun McGinnis of Chandler, Ari- zona; daughters, Heather Bardot & husband, Dwight of Fairfax, Virginia, Megan Ramsey & husband, Mick of Claysville, Pennsylvania and Michele Miller & husband, Russell of Annapolis, Maryland; brother, Jim Lawson of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; sister, Kathleen Umstead of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and ten grandchildren.
