The Bison men continued the second round of district play with a road game at Groveton on Tuesday. The Indians put a young varsity team on the floor and Buffalo established their dominance early, putting 15 points on the board before GHS was able to score. More ... The Junior Varsity Bison men only faced one opponent last week, and in that contest doubled up on the Anderson- Shiro Owls in the BHS gym on Friday. Led by Dylan Laningham and Austin Rayborn, the Bison won handily, 44- 19. More ... Last week’s District Tournaments showcased the talents and depth of the Buffalo Junior High basketball pro- grams. Both the 7th and 8th grade girls earn the district championship titles. The 8th grade boys were runners-up and the 7th grade boys took third. More ... Since Corrigan-Camden’s junior varsity squad disintegrated, the Lady Bison wrapped their season up a game early. Buffalo ended on a positive note defeating Groveton 36-28 on Tuesday and Anderson-Shiro 30-14 on Friday. The scrappy young Bison registered a 19-6 season record and a 11-2 district slate. More ... The seventh grade Lady Bison basketball season entered the district tournament as the #1 seed. These young ladies were undefeated in zone, district and tournament play prior to the weekend. The Lady Bison met Anderson Shiro, Centerville and New Waverly in the district tournament and only had one quarter of question. More ... For the second year in a row, the members of the eighth grade Lady Bison basketball team came home with a district tournament championship trophy. Seeded #1 entering the tournament, Buffalo went through Trinity (47-8) and Anderson-Shiro (32-16) on their way to a championship match up with New Waverly. BJHS claimed the district title with a 39-15 win. More ... The BJHS boys hosted New Waverly in the final regular game of the season. The 8th graders kept their undefeated season going by winning 39- 28, led by Trent Martin with 15. Logan Jones, Kyle Read, Bobby Dorman and Tyler Adams each added 6. More ... The Lady Panthers were ready to defend their home court on Tuesday night when the Wells Lady Pirates came to take home the booty...err the win that is. The Lady Pirates were made to walk the plank -- or go home empty handed, anyway. More ... The Oakwood Panthers boys' basketball team gave the Wells Pirates permission to board their home court on Tuesday night. A fierce battle ensued! The Pirates plundered the first two points, but OHS answered quickly. J.P. Hicks struck out at the Pirates with a 3-pointer, but OHS trailed Wells after the first quarter, 5-8. More ... The Lady Tigers defeated Anderson-Shiro 58-42 and Trinity 63-59 last week to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. More ... The Lady Cougars defeated Teague 45-39 on February 2 and Rosebud-Lott 71-47 on February 5 to set up the game against Marlin in Marlin on February 9th that will decide the winner of District 20-AA. Marlin defeated the Cougars in overtime by 2 points on January 22 but Marlin lost to Teague which created identical district records of 8-1. More ... The Cougars entertained Rosebud-Lott on February 5th and were handed a 52-39 loss. The Cougars began slowly as Rosebud scored the first 10 points of the game and led 13- 9 beginning the second quarter. The Cougars rallied and tied the game 17- 17 at half time. Rosebud scored 19 points in the third quarter to lead 36-25 as the fourth quarter began. More ... |
