Straight from The Horse’s Mouth
Everything Glenn learned about life he learned racing motorcycles. At the start of a race, Turn One is critical. The racers speed from the starting line reaching speeds up to 100 miles per hour. They hurl themselves into the fray wearing protective gear: thick leather suits, armored braces, and "brain buckets" . They bunch into the first turn together, in a shrieking metal-to-metal, tailpipe-to-front-wheel frenzy. Any mistake could mean disaster at the bottleneck of Turn One. The first rider to emerge successfully has the edge. The outcome is often the difference between success and failure for the entire race. It is important, exciting and risky.
In our life as a couple Turn One is even romantic. The first time I told Glenn I loved him he said he "felt like he was in Turn One". T.O. epitimizes who we are, so that's what we named our boat.
This is how Glenn sees life, always in relation to Turn One. In business; how to position one's self to bring everyone safely through the turn and stay in front. And in relationships; how to maintain excitement and foster growth and trust. His skill in captaining T.O. and his vision for The Horse's Mouth Bookstore and Coffee Shop is about doing what's right for all involved. He conducts himself in a manner that promotes cooperation between businesses so that everyone succeeds. He doesn't hog the track, allowing others to win on their own merit. He maintained the boat, and followed closely to the rhum line, safeguarding the crew. It's like the Golden Rule...do unto others...

Of course Glenn crashed a few times. Recently he and a technician admired his chest x-ray, counting no less than nine previously broken ribs. To succeed one must always take risks and learn from "mistakes". Businesses and relationships are risky. We'll always make mistakes. We're all still learning. I guess that's why life is called a race. Don't let a few failures or broken bones keep you from participating in life. It's not just about the finish line, it's about which races you engage in, and how you conduct yourself during the race.
