Lady Bison add two district wins

After struggling at the start of the second half of district play, the Lady Bison rebounded last week with two wins. Buffalo defeated Onalaska 44-27 on Tuesday before scoring a 51-48 win over Centerville on Friday. At 7-4 with three district games remaining, the Lady Bison are still in the playoff hunt. Buffalo will tackle Groveton on Tuesday and host Anderson- Shiro on Friday. Centerville dropped to 6-5 with the loss.
ONALASKA
The Lady Bison played one of their most balanced games of the season in Onalaska when they took on a much-improved Lady Wildcat team. Buffalo scored ten points in the first ten minutes while holding Onalaska to a single field goal. The Lady Bison added twelve and the Lady Wildcats managed only four to trail 22-6 at the break. Both teams scored ten points in the third quarter The Lady Bison tallied 22 points in the second half while Onalaska added 21 for the 44-27 final.
Kelsey Canady led the Lady Bison with 14 points. Latisha Jackson contributed 7 points while Kaila Grissett totaled 5. Lindsey McGill, Lauren Chambers, Erica Jones and Karlee Ferguson totaled 4 each and. Kylan Ferguson added 2.
CENTERVILLE
Centerville and Buffalo split decisions in their early meetings. The Lady Bison defeated the host in the semifinals of the Centerville Tournament, but the Lady Tigers won the first district contest. Friday’s game had all the makings of a nail biter, and fans were not disappointed. Buffalo took the early lead, but Centerville answered and slipped ahead to lead 11-9 after the first eight minutes. The Lady Bison outscored the Lady Tigers 12-7 in the second quarter to lead by 5 at the half, 21-16. In the third quarter the Lady Tigers cut the deficit to four at 37-33. The two teams traded baskets in the fourth, with CHS closing to within 2 with two minutes to play. Buffalo answered with a basket, then chipped in a couple of free throws to extend the margin to six. The Lady Bison survived a lastsecond three by the Lady Tigers to win 51-48.
Sophomores Jackson and Karlee Ferguson led the Lady Bison with 21 and 14 points, respectively. Kylan Ferguson finished with 6, Grissett contributed 5, Lauren Chambers and Meredith Shaw tossed in 3 and 2, respectively.
