The Junior Varsity Bison men pulled off two wins last week, defeating Onalaska on the road Tuesday, and coming back with a victory over the Centerville Tigers in the BHS gym on Friday.
BHS vs ONALASKA
The outcome of the Onalaska game was never in question as BHS dominated from the start. Austin Rayborn and Travis Cunningham sparked the Bison to an 11-2 opening stanza, with Jordan Nix and Dylan Laningham pulling down the rebounds. A fierce defensive press by the Bison frustrated the Wildcats' offense, and BHS cruised on to a 35-18 victory.
Rayborn, Cunningham and Nix finished with 8 apiece, with the balance of the Bison scoring coming from Laningham (6), Taylor McGill (4) and Ty Tollett (3). Rayborn, Nix and Tollett all contributed 3-pointers.
BISON vs TIGERS
The junior varsity cross- county rivalry was a defensive battle in the first quarter, with the two teams matching bucket for bucket and freethrow for free-throw. In the second period, however, D.J. Jackson and Cunningham sparked the Buffalo defense that held CHS to 4 while scoring 15, so the halftime score favored BHS, 20-9. The Tigers answered in the third quarter and trimmed the deficit to only three going into the final period. Rayborn anchored the final quarter for Buffalo as the Bison pulled away for a 34-27 victory.
Scoring for BHS were Rayborn (9), Laningham (9), Cunningham (8), Jackson (3), Nix (3), Colton Morman (1) and Taylor McGill (1). Laningham led in rebounding with 10 and Jackson led in steals with 4.
The Tigers' effort was led by Justin Newbauer (7), followed by Taylor (6), Dalton Holden (4), A.T. Robinson (4), Justin Worthington (3) and David Roach (3).
