John James Strissel, Jr. Graveside funeral services for John James Strissel, Jr., age 62, of Centerville, were held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Centerville Cemetery in Centerville, Texas. Tom Chumley officiated the service. Walters Funeral Home in Centerville was in charge of all arrangements. John James Strissel, Jr. was born on February 14, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois to John James, Sr. and Esther Selma (Seifert) Strissel. Upon graduating from high school, John enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country until 1971 as a Sergeant. He had lived in Texas since 1999 and worked as a security guard for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice at the Gore Unit in Huntsville. John liked to go to museums and was looking forward to his retirement. He loved to collect badges, including railroad badges and police badges. He had a hobby of tinkering with just about any kind of gadget and attended bible study every Sabbath. John passed away on January 10, 2010 in Conroe, Texas . He is preceded in death by both of his parents. Survivors include wife, Merline (Vaughn) Strissel of Centerville and sister, Rose Tribuzio of Chicago, Illinois.
