Jackson Neal (Jackie) Hill

Funeral services for Mr. Jackson N. Hill, age 72, were held on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at 2:00p.m. at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett. Bro. Louis Neyland officiated. Interment followed the services at Marquez Cemetery.

Visitation was held on Wednesday with the family present from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hill passed away on Monday, January 25, 2010, at the age of seventy-two, in the Veterans Hospital in Temple. He was born to Kate and Lewis Hill on March 29, 1937, in El Campo, but grew up and graduated high school in Channelview. Mr. Hill attended Lee College before serving for two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. When he returned home from Korea, he married he married Betty Hill in 1964 and shared some thirty-five years together. Mr. Hill continued his education at the University of Houston where he earned his degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for Brown & Root in Houston for twenty years and later as a contract draftsman until retiring in 1999. After retiring, he moved to Marquez to help take care of his parent’s farm. Mr. Hill loved hunting and fishing, was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed building many things from wood. He will always be in our thoughts.

He is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline Ann Theis & husband Jeff ; one granddaughter, Brittany Theis; two grandsons, Justin Theis and Jared Theis all of Marquez; two nephews, Gerald Lorfing and Darrell Lorfing both of Channelview; two nieces, Marva Frazier of Axtell and Mindy Hunt of El Campo; numerous cousins and friends. Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis & Kate Hill; and his sister, Ruth Lorfing of Channelview.
