Oakwood garden to grow again

      The Spirit of God Ministries, Inc. has obtained its 5013C non-profit status from the IRS and can now move forward in the quest to receive a $40,000 grant to go forward with their building plans. They have already secured a location at 251 Wiley Street in Oakwood to build the new facilities that will house the new C.H.A.N.G.E Youth Center and Library.

New incentive for attendance at BHS
      School attendance is important -- not just for the student's sake, but also because the State determines funding based upon attendance. Spring is traditionally a time when attendance rates drop. Buffalo High School Assistant Principal Roy Longcrier shared that BISD is initiating an incentive program at the high school that may help.

      The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #991 and their Associates are collecting valentines, candy (regular and sugar free), small stuffed animals or anything else Valentine related for our hospitalized veterans. Donation boxes can be found at the Horses Mouth Bookstore or at the Stagecoach Deli.

Families petition for access to Leon County cemetery

      There was a full house for the January 27th meeting of the Leon County Commissioners Court. Most in the gallery were on hand in a show of support for the Boggy Creek Cemetery restoration group. The group is still seeking help in resolving access issues that affect Boggy Creek Cemetery, described as a recognized historical cemetery with World War II veterans and Korean War veterans interred.
