Three CHS seniors receive scholarships

Back row - Asst. volleyball coach, James Crafton; parents Richard and Debbie Hyndman; C’ville High Principal Bob Loomis The library at Centerville High School was filled with energy and smiles on Tuesday, January 19 as three high school senior athletes signed to accept scholarships offered by Navarro College.

Leanne Jones’s scholarship is in volleyball and she has been a six foot one inch deadly weapon during her high school career, leading her team to state playoffs for the past two years. Jones was selected for the All District team her sophomore year. Her junior year she was voted District 21AA Co-Most Valuable Player; Academic All District; All Brazos Valley 3rd team; Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) All State; At the state tournament she made the All Tournament Team; All Easttexport 1st team and Junior of the year. Leanne’s senior year she garnered District’s Most Valuable Player; TGCA All State; All Easttexport 2A player of the year; and All Brazos Valley 1st team. She played basketball her junior year and made 2nd team All District. She also belongs to the Fellowship of Christian Students and various other student organizations.

Back row - Parents Jay and Donna Dickson; CHS Principal Bob Loomis Sarah Mutschler’s scholarship is in volleyball and she has played that sport all four of her high school years being effective as both setter and hitter. This year she was awarded District 21AA Setter of the Year; 2nd Team All Brazos Valley; 2nd Team Easttexports; TGCA Academic All State; and TGCA Alternate All Star Team. In 2008 she made 2nd Team All District. Mutschler has played basketball four years, ran track two years and has been a Varsity Cheerleader for two years. Inside the classroom she is a member of the National Honor Society and is 9th in her class. To further round out this energetic young woman she is a member of (FCC) Future Chamber of Commerce, (SADD) Students against Destructive Decisions and (JSA) Junior Statesmen of America.

As a freshman he was named 1st team All District Outfielder; as a sophomore he won 1st team outfielder and All Brazos Valley; his junior year he claimed 1st team All District and 1st team all Brazos Valley for the position of catcher. Hardee lettered in football all four of his high school years being awarded 1st team All District his junior and senior year for defensive end and made 1st team All Brazos Valley as a junior. In basketball Hardee lettered three years and made 1st team All District as a junior. To round out Clay’s high school sports career he has lettered 3 years, to this point, in tract and has been a Regional qualifier all three years. Also a good student in the classroom, Hardee was elected to the Academic All District Team.
