Centerville Lady Tigers break even for the week

The Tigers came up short against the Groveton Indians 39-47 on January 19th but routed Corrigan Camden 78- 30 on January 22nd.
The Tigers had a dreadful first quarter as nothing would fall and they fell behind Groveton 2-19 entering the second quarter. The Tigers outplayed Groveton the rest of the way but the opening quarter deficit was just too much to overcome. Both teams scored 7 in the second quarter and the Tigers outscored Groveton 13-8 in the third quarter and 15-13 in the fourth quarter but the damage had been done in the opening quarter. The Tigers fought back and closed the gap to 3 points with under 2 minutes left but could not get any closer. It would have been easy for the team to give up after a 17 point deficit in the opening period but they continued to fight back. Brittany Thomas sparked the Tigers as she poured in 13 points and Sarah Mutschler tossed in 10 points. Candace West had a big game on the defensive side as she pulled down 8 rebounds.

The Tigers jumped to a 19-4 advantage against Corrigan Camden in the first quarter and continued to expand the lead to 38-16 at the half. Coach Crafton substituted freely in the second half but Corrigan Camden was overmatched at fell 78- 30. Several players had big games led by Kayla Brewer with 16 points and Fallon Par- nell tossed in 10 points. Candace West led the rebounders with 10 and Desariee Matthews and Sarah Mutschler gathered 6 rebounds each. Coach Crafton played 14 players and each contributed with points, assists, or rebounds.

Coach Crafton requested a special prayer for Callie Padgett as she suffered a rodeo accident while team roping on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers travel to New Waverly on January 26th and travel to Buffalo on January 29th as they try to keep their playoff hopes alive.
