BHS men fire up for 2010 powerlifting season

Coach Clay Hodges was very proud of the BHS powerlifting team after competing in Elkhart last week. Several Bison lifters placed in their weight division, and all lifters improved their personal marks by 30 lbs or more.

Two Bison lifters earned second place in their respective weight classes. Josh Carrillo lifted 995 lbs to take second in the 220# class, and Jared Hawthorne’s total of 1220 pounds was good for second in the 198# weight class and he is ranked 5th in the Region.

Bison team member Jose Dominguez lifted a total of 1100 lbs to earn third place honors at the 165# weight class. He is ranked 8th in the Region.

Calvin Young took fourth place in his 148# division with a combined total of lifted 1100 lbs and Jonathan Cates lifted 930 lbs to earn 4th place at the 181# class.

Tate Hartley, competing in the 132# weight class, lifted a total of 790 lbs and placed 5th in the meet. He is ranked 6th in the Region.

Also lifting for the first time was Taylor McGill, competing at the 181 lb. weight class.
