Allen Stripling
Allen Stripling, 97, was born June 27, 1912 and entered life eternal on January 16, 2010 in Dallas, Texas. He was born and raised in Big Spring, Texas. He attended Texas A&M and graduated from the University of Houston in 1940.
He was a veteran of WWII where he served in the Naval Air Transport Service as a navigator in the South Pacific for three years.
He married Adelle Smith on December 16, 1942 and after the war they became residents of Dallas, Texas where they raised their three daughters. In 1946, he and Adelle joined Oak Cliff United Methodist Church where they served in all phases of church work for almost sixty years.
He worked for Mobil Oil Company at the Dallas Field Research Laboratory until his retirement in 1977.
He is survived by three daughters: Janet Stripling, Mary Calloway and husband Mike, and Ruth Holland and husband Rick, all of Dallas; sister Emma Ruth Webb and brother John Stripling of Fort Worth; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Allen loved teaching Sunday school, traveling, meteorology, poetry, playing tennis and being with his family that loved him very much.
He was buried in Buffalo, Texas.
Walters Buffalo Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
