AUSTIN — The Texas seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 8.3 percent in December, up from 8.0 percent a month ago, but continued to trend well below the U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for December of 10.0 percent. Total nonagricultural employment in Texas decreased by 23,900 jobs in December. Texas has gained nearly 50,000 jobs in the last three months.   More...

Robert (“Bob“) Joyce Pate M.D., 80, began the resting chapter of his life on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at McAllen Medical Center, McAllen, TX, after a lengthy struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. The Lady Bison faced two of the top contenders in the district last week and fell short in both contests. Buffalo gave district leader Trinity a run for their money, but the Lady Tigers pulled out a seven point win in the fourth, 47-40. On Friday, the Lady Bison traveled New Waverly to take on the Lady Bulldogs. New Waverly avenged their earlier loss to the Lady Bison with a 46-65 win.   More...
