Paul’s Photo The Centerville Lady Tigers completed the first round of district play with a 4-3 record and a season record of 12-7. The Tigers lost to Groveton by 2 points, Trinity by 3 points and an overtime loss to New Waverly. They are only 1 game out of second place and with a little luck and continued hard work should challenge for a play off spot as they kick off the 2nd half of play.

The undefeated Trinity Tigers (5-0) came to Centerville on January 12th and were very fortunate to pull out a 63-60 squeaker against the Lady Tigers. Centerville jumped to a 19- 13 lead after the first quarter and led at one time in the 2nd quarter 26-15 but hit a dry spell when nothing they put up would fall and Trinity went on a 20-2 run to lead 35-28 at the half. The ball just didn’t bounce right for Centerville. Centerville pulled within 2 midway into the 3rd quarter but fell behind 54-43 as the 3rd quarter came to a close.

Sarah Mutschler hit a shot with 9 seconds left to pull Centerville within2 points. After an intentional foul put Trinity on the line they hit 1 and had a 3 point lead with 6 seconds left. Centerville brought the ball down and had a good look at a 3 point try but the ball hit the rim and bounced off and Centerville lost 63-60.
