Lady Cougars split in district

The Lady Cougars defeated Franklin 67-47 on January 12th but lost in overtime to Teague 61-59 on January 15th.

The Cougars traveled to Franklin for a district encounter with the Lions on January 12th. The Cougars cruised to a 15-10 advantage after the first quarter and increased that to a 14 point lead at half time. The Lions cut into the deficit in the 3rd quarter and trailed by 12 entering the 4th quarter. The Cougars outscored the Lions by 8 in the final quarter and came out on top 67-47. Ashley Shuldham paced the Cougars with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Kori Charlton had a big night on the boards as she gathered 14 rebounds.

The Cougars trailed by 4 entering the 4th quarter and rallied to knot the game at 51 at the final buzzer. Unfortunately the Lions scored 10 points in the overtime period and held the Cougars to 8 to secure a hard fought 61-59 victory. The Cougars had 3 players in double figures led by Monique Dorsey with 17 points, Allison Carrigan tallied 14 and Ashley Shuldham poured in 12. Carrigan also had 12 rebounds and Kori Charlton had 7 assists, 4 points, and 6 rebounds.
