Centerville Tigers sweep two in district

The Centerville Tigers defeated Trinity 76-41 on January 12th and squeaked by Onalaska 42-40 on January 15th to remain in second place in district behind New Waverly.
The Tigers hosted Trinity and with a smothering defense had an easy win. The Tigers led by 4 at the beginning of the second quarter but got their offense in high gear and led 33-16 at the half. The Tigers had a 54-25 lead as the 4th quarter began and coasted to a 76-41 victory.
The Tigers traveled to Onalaska and met a determined and talented team and hung on to win 42-40. Michael Gwoosdz had 15 points, 4 assists, and 7 steals to lead the Tigers. Jonathan Cloud had a strong game as he tallied 12 points and gathered 10 rebounds.

The Tigers upped their district record to 4-1 and season record to 18-4. Their only loss in district was to the top ranked team in the state, New Waverly. The rematch against New Waverly is on January 26th and should be an exciting game.
