EVERYONE enjoyed the Varsity Men’s game on Friday night -- just not all at the same time. Corrigan-Camden fans could gloat in the first three quarters, as their Bulldogs played almost flawless basketball. Buffalo fans delighted in the final quarter, when their never-say-die Bison orchestrated an impressive comefrom behind victory to make it the second BHS sweep of the week. More ... With two wins last week, the Lady Bison remained in the playoff hunt. Buffalo finished the first half with a 5-2 record as did Groveton. Trinity cruised through the first seven games undefeated while New Waverly and Centerville reached the bend at 4-3. Buffalo wrapped up the first half with a 41-23 win over Anderson-Shiro and a 78-48 victory over Corrigan- Camden. More ... VARSITY CONTEST The victory by the varsity men made it a Bison sweep at Anderson-Shiro on Tuesday night. Their 65-50 win in the Owl's gym came in a high-fouling game that saw the lead change hands several times before the Bison were able to pull away for good. More ... The junior varsity Lady Bison scored two wins last week to finish out the first half of district play at 6-1. Buffalo rolled off ten unanswered points in the first quarter and added nine in the second. The Lady Owls managed a single field goal the first half to trail 19-2 at the half. More ... After a blowout first round game, the seventh grade Lady Bison had their hands full. Buffalo defeated Anderson-Shiro 45-7 on Thursday to advance to the semi-finals. The Lady Bison outlasted Leon to win 21-18 then scored a last second basket to win over Teague 25-24 in the championship. More ... Buffalo Junior High basketball players have been putting in plenty of time on the court. In addition to district competition, the youngest Bison participated in the Centerville Junior High Tournament last week, where both teams made it to the championship game on Saturday night. More ... New Waverly came to Buffalo last Monday night when the junior high Lady Bison basketball teams returned to the hardwood following a month layoff. The seventh graders faced one of their toughest opponents to date, but came away with a 45-32 victory. The eighth grade won handily, 42-7. More ... The Oakwood Jr. High Lady Panthers traveled to Murchison this week. Unfortunately, they did not bring home the win. The OJH girls did well in the first half, really holding their own. It seemed as though they had just run out of steam by the second half. Murchison edged them out with a final score of 28-32. More ... The Centerville Tigers defeated Trinity 76-41 on January 12th and squeaked by Onalaska 42-40 on January 15th to remain in second place in district behind New Waverly. More ... The Centerville Lady Tigers completed the first round of district play with a 4-3 record and a season record of 12-7. The Tigers lost to Groveton by 2 points, Trinity by 3 points and an overtime loss to New Waverly. They are only 1 game out of second place and with a little luck and continued hard work should challenge for a play off spot as they kick off the 2nd half of play. More ... The Lady Cougars defeated Franklin 67-47 on January 12th but lost in overtime to Teague 61-59 on January 15th. More ... The Lady Panthers have found their way out of the fog of defeat! OHS hosted the Laneville Lady Jackets on Tuesday. The Lady Jackets soon found out that they were not a match for the teamwork displayed by the Lady Panthers. In the first quarter, Oakwood put up 12 points to Laneville's 10. More ... On the last day of the 2009-2010 deer season during the last hour of the season, Hazel Creamer, age 91, bagged an eight point buck on the outskirts of Buffalo. More ... |
