Amber Riddle joins BISD teaching/coaching staff

Amber Riddle Amber Riddle BISD has a fresh new face on the teaching staff at the high school and junior high. Amber Riddle, a December graduate of Angelo State University, stepped into her first teaching /coaching position less than a week after receiving her diplomma, filling the vacancy left by Blake Porter's mid-year resignation.

Riddle's teaching assignments include 7th grade science and 8th grade and high school tutorials, and she will be working with girls athletics at the 7th, 8th and high school level, and particularly Lady Bison softball. Coach Riddle may be the New Kid on the Block, but she will bring a wealth of experience to the softball field. She was a four-year starter in the sport at Merkle High School, and played in college, as well, as third baseman for the "Rambelles" at Angelo State.

In addition to softball, before graduating from MHS in 2006, Riddle was also involved in power lifting, was on the Student Council and a member of the National Honor Society. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Child Development and Learning.

Filling a teaching position in the middle of the year can be tricky, but BJHS Principal Lacy Freeman shared that his site-based committee was very impressed with Ms Riddle during the interview process. “She had all the credentials we were looking for and she has met all the expectations we have and is doing very well. She’s working really hard in the classroom and with tutorials -- I’ve been realy impressed with her so far,” Freeman stated.
