The Buffalo Bison split in district play this week, losing at Centerville on Tuesday, then defeating Groveton at home on Friday to balance their season record at 9-9 and go to 2-1 in district. VS CENTERVILLE More ... After a loss and win last week, the Lady Bison basketball team finds itself in a fourway tie for second place in 21AA. Groveton, New Waverly, Centerville and Buffalo all boast 3-2 records with nine league games remaining. The Lady Bison will wrap up the first half of district play with Anderson-Shiro and Corrigan Camden this week. More ... After losing to Centerville on Tuesday, the junior varsity Lady Bison returned to the hardwood on Friday to pick up a big win on Friday. The Lady Tigers won 34-24 over the Lady Bison before Buffalo beat Groveton 37-10. More ... The junior varsity men’s matchup on Tuesday in Centerville proved to be the only BHS victory of the evening. Using a relentless defense and paced by Tate Hartley and Dylan Laningham on offense, the Bison jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Bison led 23-4 at halftime and finished with a 30-19 win. More ... The Lady Cougars notched a victory against Iola 70-36 on January 5th and defeated Hearne 66-39 on January 8th in their district opener. More ... The Cougars entertained Cross Roads on January 8th and dropped a hard fought 45-53 decision. The Cougars jumped on top 10-5 after the first quarter but fell behind 17-18 at the half. Cross Roads extended the advantage to 4 as the third quarter came to an end and the Cougars could not quite come back and fell 45- 53. More ... The Tigers kept up their winning ways by defeating Buffalo 77-49 on January 5th and Anderson-Shiro 41-32 on January 8th. More ... The Centerville Tigers hosted the Bison on January 5th and came away with a 58-45 district win. The Tigers had a slim 2 point lead after the first quarter and increased that to a 22-17 advantage at half time. The Tigers outscored the Bison by 8 to have a 40-27 lead heading into the final quarter. Both teams scored 18 points in the final quarter and the Tigers escaped with a 58-45 victory. More ... The Oakwood Jr. High basketball traveled to Grapeland this week. The 7th grade boys lost to the Grapeland Sandies on Thursday 4-38. The two baskets earned were scored by Brandon Venable and Tyler Scoggin. The 8th grade played against Fairfield's 7A team. The OJH Panthers won 42-26. Damiyne Durham picked up 15 points. Jacquez Forte got 16 points and Dominic Johnson put up 11 points. More ... |
