Commissioners tackle first agenda of 2010 The full staff of Leon County Commissioners Court were present for the first meeting of the new year. Action at the meeting consisted mainly of wrapping up some previous business. Tyson Henson petitioned the court for approval of the preliminar plat for Shawn Land Company, Phase II. Upon the recommendation of Commissioner Joey Sullivan, it was approved with a few changes. Ronnie Gibson with the BVCOG Area Agency on Aging presented a vendor's agreement for providing state-required client assessment for Leon County seniors receiving home-delivered meals. Gibson proposed that having someone from within the county to provide that function would speed up the process of clients receiving services. The BVCOG agency would provide training and reimburse the county for each assessment. The commissioners approved the agreement. At the recommendation of Steve Kerbow (Kerbow and Associates), the Commissioners tabled a previous request to file an amendment on a grant application for Hurricane Ike-related funds, which might have covered increased service delivery costs. The grant is to get funds for various cities and water companies for generators to ensure services during emergency conditions. On a second grant-related item, the Commissioners did authorize Kerbow to proceed ceed with a SECO (State Energy Conservation Office) grant application. The application, due January 15th, will allow the county to receive funds to replace eight of the most inefficient air conditioners in county buildings, and no matching funds are required. The county will contract with Freedom Air Conditioning in Buffalo for the new energyefficient replacement units. A tax resale deed bid for $1202 (Suit #T-08-48), preapproved by Normangee ISD, was accepted by the court. Auditor Susan Pugh presented line item transfers which were approved. No budget amendments were presented. In routine housekeeping matters, the Court approved the claims due and minutes of previous meetings and accepted the Veterans Service Officer's report. |
