Texas monthly oil and gas statistics NOVEMBER PERMITS TO DRILLThe Commission issued a total of 1,092 original drilling permits in November 2009 compared to 1,517 in November 2008. The November total included 918 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 19 to re-enter existing well bores, and 155 for recompletions. Permits issued in November 2009 included 278 oil, 243 gas, 535 oil and gas, 27 injection, one service and eight other permits. OCTOBER CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION Texas preliminary October 2009 crude oil production averaged 899,419 barrels daily, up from the 893,676 barrels daily average of October 2008. The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for September 2009 is 27,881,978 barrels, up from 27,703,956 barrels reported during October 2008. NOVEMBER OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS In November 2009, operators reported 459 oil, 486 gas, 60 injection and one other completion compared to 824 oil, 842 gas, 103 injection and three other completions during November 2008. Total well completions for 2009 year to date are 14,580 down from 15,803 recorded during the same period in 2008. Operators reported 426 holes plugged and zero dry holes in November 2009 compared to 518 holes plugged and four dry holes in November 2008. OCTOBER NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION Texas oil and gas wells produced 579,920,557 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for October 2009, up from the October 2008 preliminary gas production total of 558,286,780 Mcf. Texas production in October 2009 came from 140,516 oil and 89,466 gas wells. |
