Oakwood Cub Scouts go hunting...
      Oakwood Cub Scout Pack 610 went out hunting this past week...hunting for food that is. Every year these young boys go on a doorto door food drive to collect canned goods to give to a family in need from the Angel tree at the school. This year the boys gathered 88 items in boxes, bags, and cans. This annual event has always been a favorite for the Scouts.

No Fireworks for Oakwood
      Due to the "No fireworks inside the city limits" ordinance, citizens of Oakwood will have to look for other ways to celebrate New Year's. This ordinance was set in place for both safety reasons and for noise reduction. (Oakwood has a noise ordinance, too.) It is common for cities to ban the sale and use of fireworks inside the city limits.

Construction complete on power plant near Franklin
      The first of two 800-megawatt units at Luminant's new Oak Grove Power Plant in Robertson County is now online, having recently achieved substantial completion.
