Photo by Melissa Missildine The Oakwood Boys Varsity Basketball team hosted the Apple Springs Eagles last Tuesday with devastating results. In the first quarter, Oakwood scored 3 points to Apple Springs' 10. Not a good way to start things off. The Panthers rallied in the second quarter to put up 10 points to the Eagles 9. After the half, the Eagles pulled ahead with 16 more points. Oakwood only picked up 2. The OHS boys were low in numbers for this game and had tired out by the third quarter. Try as they might, they just couldn't catch up. The Panthers scored 11 to Apple Springs 7. The end score? Oakwood 26 - Apple Springs 42.

Bryson Randle picked up 4 points and 5 rebounds for the night. Damien Purvis picked up a couple of points and a rebound. Travis Eldridge got 3 points and 5 rebounds while James Edwards got 3 points and 8 rebounds. J.P. Hicks had the top score for the night with 14 points. He also picked up a couple of rebounds. Robert Myrick also picked up a rebound.

Away:

The Oakwood boys traveled to Latexo Friday night and brought home the win. The first quarter was close with Oakwood scoring 15 and Latexo scoring 17. OHS began to take control of the game in the third quarter putting up 25 to Latexo's 14 points. Back from the half, the Panthers were relentless, picking up 15 more points while Latexo only picked up 3. Give credit where credit is due...Latexo tried for a come back in the last quarter but only managed to pick up 19 more points. After adding Oakwood's last 5 points from the fourth quarter, Oakwood came out on top with an end score of 60-53.

In this game, Randle got 13 points and a couple of rebounds. Eldridge got 6 points and 4 rebounds. Edwards picked up a couple of points and 5 rebounds. Purvis picked up a rebound and Carderrell Stubblefield got a couple of points and 4 rebounds. J.P. Hicks had another hot night, picking up 14 points again with 7 rebounds this time. Kealyne Durham was back on the court. He brought 24 points and 5 rebounds with him.

The OHS boys are hoping to come out on top at the three day Tenaha tournament coming up December 28th-30th.
