Oh, what a relief it is! The Oakwood Lady Panthers have got their game back. The OHS girls varsity basketball team went up against the Kennard Lady Tigers last Tuesday night. The OHS girls had to work hard for every point, but in the end they took the game with 32-25.
The Lady Tigers brought a big crowd of fans with them and the KIVY radio station out of Crockett tagged along to cover the game. This was a rough game. There were almost as many free throw points because of fouls as there were points for baskets!
Felicia Williams and Christina Hudson picked up the first two baskets of the night. That brought the first quarter score to 4-7 with the Lady Tigers on top. Hudson went on to get 10 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists for the night. In the second quarter, the Lady Panthers score was 10 to the Lady Tigers' 14. Felicia scored the first and second baskets for the Lady Panthers in the third quarter. Then Lisa Stevens put up a couple of free throw shots, as did Felicia Williams. Then Felicia put up an awesome three-point shot and another basket putting Oakwood on top with 21-19 going into the fourth quarter. She went on to get 7 rebounds and a couple of steals and assists in this game as well. Stevens got another free throw point at the beginning of the fourth quarter. She went on to score 9 more points, 4 resulting from foul shots, and a real hot 3 point shot. She also picked up a couple of rebounds, 5 steals, and a couple of assists for the night. Ashley Owens got a couple of points in the fourth quarter along with 4 rebounds and a pretty sweet steal. Jocelyn Williams got a couple of free throw points in the final quarter and a steal as well. Nakeithia Crenshaw contributed with rebounds and steals too.
